key points
-war between the Mexicans and Americans was won by the Americans which led to a treaty being signed that would increase the size of the US *connection: expansion gives the US power
-war was fought over who owned Texas - Mexico thought Texas was on their territory but the Americans thought otherwise
-US President James Polk focused the US on Manifest Destiny by interesting them in westward expansion
*The Mexican War didn't impact the British colonies directly but the US gains power with every expansion they make which could lead to Manifest Destiny because the colonies don't have as much power as the US. The colonies weren't a united country so each colony would have to fend for themselves if there was a war for the control of North America or a relocation of the colonies by the US.

summary
The Mexican War shows Manifest Destiny because it was about American expansion and power. The war occurred because the Mexicans thought Texas was within their territory but the Americans thought otherwise. The Mexican War didn't directly effect the British colonies but the power the Americans gained from winning the war effected them in the way that Manifest Destiny was a higher possibility. But the colonies may have been scared that the US could possibly take their land similar to how they took Texas. The colonies didn't have nearly as much power as the US and wouldn't stand a chance in a war over the control of North America. In conclusion, the Americans winning the Mexican War gave them power and expansion which made Manifest Destiny a larger possibility which would effect the British colonies even though they were not directly effected by the war.
This map shows how close both Mexico and the United States were to Texas which would explain the dispute over who owned the land.
